Celebs can net $10K just for one tweet endorsing a product

(Newser) – Twitter represents a new frontier for advertising, with companies like Ad.ly connecting advertisers to much-followed celebrities. The Daily Beast lists the most highly compensated tweeters:

  1. Kim Kardashian: 2,795,369 followers, $10,000 (at least) per tweet.
  2. Soulja Boy: 2,002,848 followers, $10,000 (at least) per tweet.
  3. Dr. Drew Pinsky: 1,832,536 followers, $10,000 (at least) per tweet.
  4. Samantha Ronson: 1,485,813 followers, $7,000-$10,000 per tweet.

  1. Greg Grunberg: 1,400,777 followers, $7,000-$10,000 per tweet.
  2. Khloe Kardashian: 861,701 followers. $5,000-$10,000 per tweet.
  3. Lauren Conrad: 838,218 followers. $5,000-$10,000 per tweet.
  4. Kourtney Kardashian: 762,738 followers. $5,000-$10,000 per tweet.
  5. Audrina Patridge: 638,385 followers. $5,000-$10,000 per tweet.
  6. Kendra Wilkinson: 477,201 followers. $5,000- $10,000 per tweet.

what makes me sick is that these people are famoust for nothing important, or beneficial to our society...the US free market is totally fucked up sometimes...

half a million to a million and a half people see one page everyday, imagine how valuable that space is that they see, which is the specific person from this list, obviously...but if you were to put your product there, then its a guarentee that you will make big gains off of the views...now how much do you think that space would go for, and for what company...

i don't understand how twitter makes money. or why celebrities make money for this. or why i can't make the same tweeting about my bowel movements.
