Stocks fell today as Alcoa's $277 million loss sounded a sour note for the beginning of the earnings season, the Wall Street Journal reports.

  • The Dow fell 37 points to close at 10,627.
  • The Nasdaq lost 30 points, closing at 2,282.
  • The S&P 500 dropped 11 points to settle at 1,136.
