(Newser) – More senseless violence from Mexico's drug gangs: gunmen killed at least 14 at a high school party in Ciudad Juarez early yesterday. A group of teens and young adults were celebrating a soccer victory at a private home when seven cars full of armed men stormed the house, releasing a barrage of gunfire that left at least 82 bullet casings at the scene.

Eight of the dead are under 20 years of age, while the youngest was 13. Two dozen other teens and young adults were hospitalized after the attack, the LA Times reports. The motivation for the shooting is unclear. One local newspaper reported that one of the victims was a witness in a homicide investigation. Witnesses and family members say the teens had no connection to drug traffickers and believe the attack was prompted by false information.
