(Newser) – Despite China's warning that a meeting with the Dalai Lama would "threaten trust and cooperation" with the US, President Obama still plans to sit down with the Tibetan spiritual leader when he visits Washington this month. "The president told China's leaders during his trip last year that he would meet with the Dalai Lama and he intends to do so, " a White House spokesman told reporters traveling with Obama on Air Force One today.

Actually, I kind of like that this may piss them off and prevent them from lending to us...that should put a quick end to the defense dept.'s budget increase as well as a whole slew of poorly-informed social programs. Budgetary responsibility's hard, but better sooner than later.

The next Dali was chosen by the Chinese govt so we wont have to worry about it much longer... the sad part is all they really want (Buddhists) is for everyone and every creature to be happy.. and they mean it.

northeast, that's right. They can cash the bonds whenever they feel it will be the most beneficial thing to do economically and it sucks big time. But it will not be triggered by the known, traditional political stance of our government.
