Residents complain, force carcasses to be moved

(Newser) – If you think your job sucks, at least it's not this bad: Someone recently had to dig up Michael Jackson's two giraffes, one of whom had been dead since November, and re-bury them. The residents of Page, Ariz., complained about the stench that resulted when the animals were buried on the wildlife preserve where they had lived, TMZ reports. They are now in an undisclosed location—and the two surviving giraffes were moved outside the state.

(NEWSER) - Dr. Conrad Murray was hit with the maximum sentence of four years' imprisonment today for his role in the death of Michael Jackson. Murray, who was convicted of involuntary manslaughter , will serve his time in county jail rather than prison because he is a non-violent felon, TMZ reports. It is also likely he will serve just half of his sentence. Emergency responders wouldn’t have been able to come through the gate, the doctor claimed: "No one is allowed to come upstairs except for Mr. Jackson." When Savannah Guthrie pointed out that Murray could have called Jackson’s bodyguard and asked him to meet them at the gate, Murray said he didn’t want to "leave a full explanation on the phone" and started CPR instead. (NEWSER) - From Dr. Conrad Murray’s trial for the involuntary manslaughter of Michael Jackson, more sad details about the King of Pop’s last days. Kenny Ortega, the choreographer for Jackson’s “This Is It” tour, testified yesterday that he confronted Murray just days before Jackson’s death, airing his concerns that the star was incoherent and couldn’t rehearse. He also emailed the concert promoter to recommend that Jackson be psychologically evaluated, and complained that no one was “taking responsibility” or caring for Jackson, ABC News reports. More»

(NEWSER) - Things seemed to be going pretty well for Michael Jackson ’s children, but that may not last long. Dr. Conrad Murray , who will stand trial for manslaughter in Jackson’s death, plans to call Prince and Paris Jackson to the stand. “Prince and Paris knew their dad relied on Dr. Murray to survive and knew their father adored him,” a source tells Radar . Murray expects the children to admit their father was addicted to drugs, and specifically wants Paris to testify to statements she reportedly made soon after Jackson’s death. More»
