Greenies Bank on Worm Poop

All organic fertilizers changing the marketplace

(Newser) – One company wanting to "make millions while saving the world" is banking on worm poop, using it for eco-friendly fertilizer—though chemical compost still clogs the market, CNN reports. Greenies are boosting the organic fertilizer market by 10% per year, but most homeowners have "failed" the "environmentally responsible" grade, one expert says.

TerraCycle is certified as having zero net negative impact, but they’re far from a non-profit:  "We're not doing this to save the environment,” CEO Tom Szaky says, “we’re doing this to show you can make a lot of money while helping save the environment.” Other companies are getting the message, rushing to market more all-natural, dung-derived products.
