(Newser) – Conrad Murray pleaded not guilty after being charged with involuntary manslaughter in the death of Michael Jackson today. The singer's parents, Joe and Katherine, and several of his brothers were in court in Los Angeles. Prosecutors allege Murray killed the pop legend "unlawfully, and without malice," by administering the drug Propofol. If convicted, Murray faces a maximum of 4 years in prison, the Los Angeles Times reports.

at Joeq... there is in law something called contributory negligence, but this case does not have anything to do with that. No matter how much i ask for drugs from a Dr, s/he is the licensed practitioner and therefor responsible. as RobN pointed out, the DR should have known better. But more than likely the Dr was driven be greed and not by his ethical responsibility.

Doctors are required to have a special level of education, expertise and care that the average layman is not expected to posess. That's why we license them and that's why we charge them with crimes when they don't act in a manner consistent with a reasonable level of care.
