(Newser) – Now they're mad: Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie said through their lawyer today that they're not splitting up, and they're suing the British tabloid News of the World for starting the avalanche of rumors that they are. "We can confirm unequivocally ... that the allegations published by the News of the World are false as well as intrusive," they said in a statement.

The paper declined to retract allegations published on Jan. 24 that Brangelina had agreed to separate, would divide $320 million in assets, and had made custody arrangements for their six children, the AP reports. A high-profile LA divorce lawyer they were said to have consulted, Sorrell Trope, also denied that she had any contact with the couple.

To win, sure. To sue? Heck no. Anyone can sue over anything.

I wish he would take his biological children and leave her faster than lightening! Who would want to be stuck with Jezebel for the rest of their lives?

Why not sue? The media should be held accountable when they publish false stories. Of course, only time will prove the publication right/wring, but the burden of proof is on the publication and at this point and time it doesn't look good.
