World Likes Obama Much More Than Bush

Approval rating globally at 51%

(Newser) – The world likes President Obama a lot more than it likes President Bush. The world’s opinion of US leadership is at a median 51%, according to Gallup. That may not sound stratospheric, but it’s the highest it’s been since Gallup began asking the question in 2005, the Chicago Tribune explains. Bush’s last reading gave him a lowly 34%.

Since then the perception of the US has improved dramatically in all four major global regions, especially Europe, a region that particularly despised Bush. Obama’s highest overall approval ratings came from Africa, or at least, the part south of the Sahara; the numbers in mainly Arab areas like Egypt remain pretty low.

I would have been happier if the banks had not getten a no strings attached bailout and shamelessly huge bonuses (that Obama is somehow applauding today). I do contract work and the people who pay me, who used to get no strings attached short term lines of credit to meet payrolls now have to show the banks million dollar balances. Why? Because the banks can borrow from the fed at 1% and sit on it at 3% (oversimplification, but basically true). Why should they lend stimulous money if they can get it through the fence, so to speak? The banks are keeping the economy depressed, the Fed is building another bubble and the investment brokers are selling worthless paper, same as with Bush except that the tax payers floated the banks that were "too big to fail" to the tune of almost a trillion dollars. There IS something wrong with this picture and I'm looking at it through the eyes of a flaming liberal. True, even the Democrats in Congress aren't supporting Obama. He needs to figure out how to get leverage if he wants to lead, though.

I'm guessing that most of the comments on here are from liberal democrats, or at least that mentality. And, why wouldn't the world love Obama? He's literally bowed down to them, apologized to them, and kissed their a---s since taking office. (Until they need us- and they always do!) It's like those people sitting at home on their butt while the govt carries them- like we owe it to them. That's the dem's approach. Take from the rich and give to those that don't want to work.
