Dow Up 150 on EU Proposal

Germany floats idea of loan guarantees

(Newser) – A plan proposed by Germany to offer Greece and other economically troubled EU nations loan guarantees helped soothe global markets today and drove a rally in US stocks, the Wall Street Journal reports.

  • The Dow rose 150 points to close at 10,059.
  • The Nasdaq added 25 points, settling at 2,151.
  • The S&P 500 gained 14 points, closing at 1,071.
