Now that EA’s successfully turned Dante’s Inferno into a bloody beat-em-up action game, the guys at Wired decided to dream up some other literary classics begging to be transformed into games. There picks:

  • The Metamorphosis: In this 8-bit classic, Gregor Samsa morphs into Bug Mode and scampers around 1912 Prague, "gobbling garbage power-ups and dodging missiles." Overcome your feelings of inadequacy and insignificance to prevail!
  • Huckleberry Finn: The first half would be a social engineering game; the second a white water rafting game almost identical to Toobin’.

  • A Farewell to Arms: It’s about a World War I ambulance driver, so it’ll make a perfect Grand Theft Auto clone. Just jack the ambulance of your choice, then run over whoever the bad guys were in World War I.
  • Heart of Darkness: Just because Colonel Kurtz would make a killer end boss.
  • Moby Dick: Who wants to be Ahab? Here you’d be the White Whale, dodging harpoons, crushing boats, and maiming obsessed captains.
