Beck Calls Out Texas Gov. Candidate for Waffling on '9/11 Truthers'

Debra Medina to Beck: There are 'good arguments' that US was behind 9/11

(Newser) – Republican Debra Medina's campaign for Texas governor went on damage control yesterday after a disastrous Glenn Beck interview in which she refused to deny that she believes the US government was behind the 9/11 attacks. "There's some very good arguments and I think the American people have not seen all the evidence, so I've not taken a position," the candidate told Beck.

Medina put out a statement soon after denying any links to the "9/11 truther" movement, the Christian Science Monitor reports. Her rivals for the GOP nomination were quick to attack her comments. Medina had shot from 4% to 24% in the polls in recent weeks, but Beck figured the rise may be over. "I think I can write her off the list," he scoffed after thanking Medina for the interview. " Wow, the fastest way back to 4%."

If you really believe that there are legitimate questions yet to be answered about whether the US government was involved in the 9/11 attacks, in my opinion, you have no business running for the governor of Texas. - Former FEMA executive Joe Allbaugh

From a slightlyh different perspective: it is a sad state of the party and/or candidates, when they must heel, satisfy, pacify, take orders from a radio/tv guy. Clearly that is a sign that such "candidates" have little or no guts or gumption and certainly no leadership ability.

Of course Beck is a liar izZY, he is a cable commentator, it's all about ratings. Beck and Hannity are both turning into the Jerry Springers of the 2000's.

My problem is with the terms 'progressive' and 'regressive'. They assume a 'correct trajectory', which wreaks of idealogical arrogance. On sales tax, though, what you say is not necessarily true. It depends on what you tax. You can refrain from taxing the sort of things that lower income earners purchase while heavily taxing the commodities that higher income earners purchase (SUVs, luxury items, etc). In this way, you're not taxing 'rich income', you're taxing 'rich behavior'.
