(Newser) – It's curling time at the Olympics, and Steven Ovadia of the Bleacher Report has 5 reasons you must watch:

  • It's crazy: "I guarantee the first time you sit down to watch will blow your mind." Once the novelty fades, however, you'll realize it's a "beautiful sport."
  • It's hypnotic: "There's a rhythm" to it. "The stone is tossed, players sweep, and the stone rotates down a sheet of ice, heading for a giant bulls eye." Each sequence looks the same at first, but keep watching and you'll pick up on the nuances.

  • It's foreign: Learning a little about "this most Canadian of sports" won't kill you.
  • It's exciting: It is. Each throw matters, and there's no waiting for judges' scores.
  • It's straightforward: Just two teams going at it in a simple game. It makes even the moguls competition seem complicated.
  • Bonus reason: If all that's not enough, how many Olympic sports feature athletes who are 5 months pregnant? See Yahoo story here.
