Mitt Romney is once again a "favored son" among conservatives, notes Ben Smith, and he used his speaking slot at CPAC today to burnish those credentials and drive home the point that President Obama and Democrats are out of touch with America. Romney, in fact, used the word "America" nearly 40 times, writes Smith in Politico.

“President Obama fails to understand America,” said Romney. "(Obama) said: ‘With all the lobbying and horse trading, the process left most Americans wondering, “What’s in it for me?”’ That’s not at all what they were asking. They were asking: ‘What’s in it for America?’" Romney added: “Will the economy and unemployment recover? Of course. Thanks to a vibrant and innovative citizenry, they always do. But this president will not deserve the credit he will undoubtedly claim." (More Mitt Romney stories.)
