An 18-year-old Delaware State freshman was charged with attempted murder today in Friday's shooting of two other students. The alleged gunman had been in a fight with one of the victims earlier in the week and sought revenge after an unidentified person spit in his face, the Wilmington News Journal reports, quoting the arrest warrant.

Loyer Braden, 18, of "did not want to let the altercation stand," a university cop wrote in the warrant. If he makes bail, which was set at $75,000, he is barred from contact with the victims and from campus. "The campus and the community can now breathe easier," the police chief told Reuters. The 17-year-old victims remain hospitalized. (More Delaware State University stories.)
