(Newser) – The Canadian men’s hockey team will play for the gold medal the host nation most desperately wants from the Vancouver Olympics, earning a rematch with the US by fending off a third-period charge from Slovakia tonight in a 3-2 victory. The Canadians lost, 5-3 to the Americans last Sunday; the rematch is this Sunday at 12:15 Pacific.

Yonge St. downtown Toronto is closed to traffic. Crowds fill the street to the max. The USA has every reason to celebrate the talent of its hockey team.

There are only two things most Canadians talk about: Hockey, and beating America at hockey. Lot's to talk about today!

Canada is basically going to shut down. Everyone I know is ditching work if they didn't already book it off. The Beer Store is already super busy and it isn't even Sunday yet lol
