(Newser) – After four years, Roger Ebert is finally getting his voice back—and he debuted it yesterday during his appearance on the Oprah Winfrey Show in a touching segment. The program that simulates his voice was created by a Scottish company that used Ebert’s DVD commentaries to re-create his speech, the Chicago Tribune reports.

"It still needs improvement but at least it sounds like me," said Ebert in his familiar voice. "In first grade, they said I talked too much. And now I still can." Chaz, his wife of 18 years, cried and called it “incredible,” asking her husband what he thought of it. “Uncanny,” he said. “A good feeling.” You can also view the clip here.
