Top Cities Beating the Recession

DC is No. 1, but Texas has a bunch in the top 10

(Newser) – The number-crunchers at Forbes have come up with a list of the top cities where the recession is easing. The formula takes into account projected job growth and housing prices. Here's the list:

  1. (tie) Washington, DC-Arlington-Alexandria
  2. (tie) Austin-Round Rock
  3. Dallas-Fort Worth-Arlington
  4. (tie) Minneapolis-St. Paul-Bloomington
  5. (tie) Houston-Sugar Land-Baytown

  1. Denver-Aurora
  2. San Antonio
  3. Boston-Cambridge-Quincy
  4. Los Angeles-Long Beach-Santa Ana
  5. Kansas City (Missouri and Kansas)

Live in Los Angeles and am surprised to see it at #9 because I am still not seeing much growth here. What I am seeing is Business's continuing to close, For Sales on homes that have been on the market for over a year. I also have many friends who are still on unemployment and some have actually left the LA area because they just cannot find employment. It just still seems bad here in LA

Shouldn't there be a distinction between employment and the economic picture in various places? I know that the two do seem to be tied together but also know that the economy picks up well before full employment does.Commercial real estate, home sales, company earnings etc are all part of the total picture.
Jopbs? full employment with many benefits in our military.
