(User Submitted) – IBM has created a form of plastic that is made from plants, the company announced today. Researchers claim that the process can lead to the replacement of petroleum-based plastics that are killing our planet. "This discovery and new approach using organic catalysts could lead to well-defined, biodegradable molecules made from renewable resources in an environmentally responsible way," IBM said in a release. Not only earth-friendly, the new plastic parts would cost less as well. Read the full article.

I'd be impressed when IBM creates a job in the US and doesn't offshore it within a few years. Yes, I'm a jaded ex-employee.

We've been able to make plastic out of hemp for a very long time. This is not news, just more corporate bull shit to make money. Industrialize hemp, let us harness the power of a plant that can make over 25,000 products we use EVERY day and we'll show you how it can change the world as we know it.
