Rush Limbaugh: I'm No 'Champion' of Eric Massa

He pulls back as Steny Hoyer and Robert Gibbs blast ex-congressman

(Newser) – Rush Limbaugh says the mainstream media has it all wrong about his opinion of former Democratic congressman Eric Massa. “They think I'm a big supporter,” the talk show host said today, perhaps because yesterday he promised to make Massa’s ordeal “a national story,” reports Politico. Unflattering stories about the Democratic party are great, but "I’m not a champion of his," said Limbaugh. "Anybody who embraces this guy is in big trouble."

Massa also took heat from Democrats. House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer characterized Massa's assertion that he was run out of Congress on trumped up ethics charges because of his opposition to health care reform as “absurd" and "absolutely untrue.” Robert Gibbs, meanwhile, characterized Massa's story as "ridiculous." Still to come: Massa is scheduled to appear on Glenn Beck's Fox show later today.

After watching the Beck show, former Rep.Massa, seems to be what is he is; Like most congressman, small fish in a violent sea of intertwined relationships of lobbyists and senior congressional leadership. He probably could have told more, but not without a attorney by his side for fear of being sued, not that congressional privilege in no longer available.

A perfect excuse for conservatives to avoid talking policy.
