Mattel Rolls Out Mad Men Barbie Dolls
Behold, the Barbie Mad Men collection.   (Mattel)

Have you ever wanted to dress up Don Draper? Well, now you can. Mattel is rolling out a line of Mad Men Barbie dolls. They’ll be the first offering in the Barbie Fashion Model Collection, a high-priced line of figures aimed at adult collectors based on TV properties. Only 7,000-10,000 copies of each doll will be made, and they’ll have a suggested retail price of $75, reports the New York Times.

The line will include Don, Betty, Roger, and Joan. But while Mattel was perfectly comfortable making dolls of an extramarital couple like Roger and Joan, they have cleaned up the characters’ acts a bit: sadly, they won’t come with cigarette, cocktail shaker, or martini glass accessories. “The dolls, we feel, do a great job of embodying the series,” says a Barbie marketing executive. But “certain things are appropriate, and certain things aren’t.” (More Don Draper stories.)
