Patrick Kennedy Loses It on House Floor

Rhode Island Congressman blasts media for Afghanistan Coverage

(Newser) – Patrick Kennedy blasted the media on the floor of the House this afternoon, calling the focus on the likes of Eric Massa rather than the war in Afghanistan "despicable." The lame-duck Rhode Island Democrat was speaking—and eventually shouting—in favor of a Dennis Kucinich-sponsored resolution requiring President Obama to pull American troops out of Afghanistan.

"There's two press people in this gallery. We're talking about Eric Massa 24-7 on the TV! We're talking about war and peace, $3 billion, 1,000 lives and no press? No press," Kennedy raged. "The press of the United States is not covering the most significant issue of national importance and that's the laying of lives down in the nation for the service of our country. It's despicable, the national press corps right now." To see Kennedy's tirade, click here.

For all we know, this is just a ploy to appeal to those so-called "teabaggers" who elected Scott Brown to the U.S. Senate a while back.

Besides, why would the networks give anymore coverage to such an unwinnable war in Afghanistan?

In all fairness I can't disagree with him. I do think he he needs to find a different path of some happiness and time out of the public life. I would not want to be a Kennedy and feel that I must carry the Torch. The Torch has gone out.
