The ongoing drama that is the National League Central pennant race continued to play out last night as the Cubs lost 7-4 to the Florida Marlins then, hours later, the Brewers failed to capitalize with a win against the Cardinals. The Cubs magic number is now down to three with four games left to play.

Florida defeated Chicago for the ninth game in a row, stretching back to last season, which ties for the longest active streak between two teams. The Brewers tension-filled, ejection-palgued loss to the Cubs means they no longer control their own destiny and every game is now basically a must-win. (More Chicago Cubs stories.)
