If you're in need of a little creative inspiration this fall, there's no better place to go than Santa Fe, New Mexico, whose azure skies and red deserts were muses to Georgia O'Keeffe. Aside from the stunning, often Mars-like landscape, there's a lively art scene. Travel + Leisure's hit list includes the Museum of International Folk Art, the galleries lining Canyon Road and, of course, the Georgia O'Keeffe Museum.

If you enjoy excellent Mexican-style cuisine, Santa Fe has it in spades. Conde Nast Traveler recommends the Mex-Asian fusion at Café Pasqual's or, if your taste is more traditional, the Guadalupe Café. If you want to bring a bit of Santa Fe home with you, USA Today suggests checking out the seasonal Indian Market and the Spanish Market for hand-made silver and turquoise jewelry.
