Top Countries, Pages, and Other Surprising Facebook Stats

Facebook's runaway growth is well documented, but some details still wow, and some are quite odd. Website Monitoring takes a look at the salient facts.

• Popularity: The US has the most active users, but 70% of Facebookers are international. Sure, the UK comes in at No. 2, but No. 3 is...Indonesia? Turkey grabs the No. 4 spot, just ahead of France.

• Pages: Another weird one. Michael Jackson, predictably, is near the top at No. 2, but the No. 1 spot is Texas Hold 'Em Poker. Vin Diesel, at No. 5, beats Megan Fox at No. 7. Surprisingly, Twilight is just No. 10.
• Activity: Of 400 million active users, a staggering 50% log on every day and spend an average of 55 minutes on the site. Some 3 billion photos and 5 billion other pieces of content are uploaded every month. The average user has 130 friends, and the 100 million who use Facebook Mobile are twice as active as their tethered brethren.
• Connectivity: Half or more of the top websites in the world use Facebook Connect, and 60 million users click the button on external websites each month.
