The allegations in the Dennis Hopper-Victoria Duffy divorce reached new heights of outrageous when Hopper’s adult daughter and assistant accused Duffy of trying to kill him. As both sides prepare for a custody hearing today, ABC News runs down the 10 craziest accusations thus far:
- Verbal abuse: Duffy accused Hopper of calling her “a human garbage can” in 2008 and threatening her in 2009: “Something bad is going to happen to you and you won’t see it coming.”
- Vandalism: Hopper’s daughter, Marin, who is six years older than Duffy, claims her stepmother smashed a cottage gate and dumped excrement around it.
- Bad parenting: Duffy says Hopper exposed their 6-year-old daughter Galen to his marijuana use and to films with sexual content; he also supposedly kept loaded guns in their house.
- Theft: Hopper accuses Duffy of stealing more than $1.5 million in artwork, silverware, linens, glass pieces, and African furniture during what he calls "art raids."
