Ranking America's Most Stressful Schools

This month, lots of high school overachievers will be anxiously awaiting acceptances from the halls of Ivy—even as concerns mount that these schools might not be great for your mental health. Cornell University, for example, had two suicides in as many days last month. So the Daily Beast decided to crunch some numbers and figure out which colleges were the most stressful.

They ranked the top 50 schools in the country based on how expensive they were, how competitive, how crime-ridden, and, oddly, how known they were for engineering programs. Apparently, engineering programs are really stressful. The top 10:

  1. Stanford University
  2. Columbia University
  3. MIT
  4. University of Pennsylvania
  5. Harvard University
  6. Princeton University
  7. Vanderbilt University
  8. Carnegie Mellon University
  9. California Institute of Technology
  10. Northwestern University
