A Melbourne-area couple who found themselves in that situation have been arrested and charged with “theft by finding.”

A woman had accidentally donated the suitcase, unaware that her husband had hidden so much money inside, reports the Sydney Morning Herald. By the time she realized and called the store, it had been sold.
