Teen Makes Prom Dress Out of Gum Wrappers Elizabeth Rasmuson will sport an ensemble made from Five gum By Kate Seamons, Newser Staff Posted Apr 13, 2010 2:38 PM CDT 26 comments Comments In this image made from video provided by KIMT-TV, Elizabeth Rasmuson and boyfriend Jordan Weaver wear a dress and vest made of gum wrappers. (AP Photo/KMIT-TV) (Newser) – Most teens don't shop for their prom dress at Walgreens. Then again, Elizabeth Rasmuson won't look like most teens at her prom. The Iowa junior will be sporting a gown handmade from gum wrappers on the big night. "I heard about somebody making a dress out of duct tape or something one time so I just was like what's something cool and I've always liked the colors of the 'Five' gum," says Rasmuson, in very teenage speak. She made a jacket from the wrappers last year, then got inspired to make the dress; boyfriend Jordan Weaver will wear a matching vest. The two started collecting specific colors in August, giving gum out to friends to chew and then collecting the wrappers; they lost track of just how many they had after hitting 200, reports KIMT. Will this be her last gum garment? Says Rasmuson, "They just came out with a new "Five" gum which is black..."
