Coast Guard responds to vessel taking on water near Sunshine Skyway Bridge

(User Submitted) – TAMPA, Fla. - The USCG gave assistance to 7 people aboard a small pleasure craft, Saturday, approximately 1 mile south of the Sunshine Skyway Bridge. Watchstanders at USCG Sector St. Petersburg received a report at 7:00 p.m. from the Manatee County Sheriff's office of a vessel in distress, after a 911 call was received from persons aboard a vessel, reporting they were taking on water. A USCG Station Cortez 25-foot response boat crew was immediately launched and arrived on scene at 7:13 p.m. 3 adults and 4 children were taken aboard the 17-foot craft.
