(Newser) – Princess Beatrice became the first member of the British royal family to complete the London Marathon today—and even helped set a record. The 21-year-old daughter of Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson was part of the largest group ever to complete a marathon while linked together, the Telegraph reports. Bungee cords connected Beatrice, who ran to raise money for the Children in Crisis relief agency, and 33 other people wearing black clothing and fluorescent-green tutus.

nice to see privileged young people giving back in a way that requires more than just a signature in their checkbook. Running a marathon is blood and sweat and speaks to her character and dedication for her cause. Good for her!
