  1. World's first controlled nuclear reaction
  2. Invention of the cell phone
  3. Development of hormone treatments for prostate and breast cancer

  1. Invention of magnetic recording
  2. Development of treatment for malaria
  3. The skyscraper
  4. Discovery of the top quark
  5. Discovery of chromosome abnormalities in cancer
  6. Carbon-14 dating 
  7. Discovery of the human body's process for making insulin
