Hundreds of University of Memphis students gathered  to mourn a student football player fatally shot near campus housing. Taylor Bradford, 21, was carrying as much as $7,000 he had won earlier at a casino when he was killed Sunday night, according to police. Two men were seen running from the wounded player. Detectives have made no arrests.

Just hours before he was killed, the defensive lineman attended a forum on race and violence held at the university.  Bradford was just 36 credit hours short of graduation. His death was the second homicide of an an athlete at a Southern university over the weekend. An Ole Miss track star was found murdered Saturday. (More Taylor Bradford stories.)
