Baby Survives Abortion for 2 Days

Italian docs may face charges for leaving baby to die

(Newser) – Italian police are considering bringing homicide charges against doctors who left an aborted baby boy to die. The boy, aborted at 22 weeks, was found breathing almost a full day after the operation by a priest who had gone to pray beside the body. The infant was taken to a specialist unit where he died the following day, CNN reports.

The situation "is contrary to the sense of human piety and to any medical practice," said an official at Italy's Ministry of Health. The baby's mother opted for the late-term abortion after an ultrasound revealed that the fetus had a cleft lip and palate, according to the Telegraph. Church officials say that the case shows that Italy needs to change its attitudes both toward abortion and the disabled.

This episode must truly shake people's consciences. It is not possible that a fetus aborted at the 22nd week, still alive, is left to die. This is something truly abhorrent. I would define this as barbaric.

Maybe this shows the obsession people have these days for physical beauty and perfection.

Since when is 22 weeks "Late Term?"

It is the end of Mid Term; 23 weeks begins "Late Term."
