Coast Guard Rescues 3 people near Channel Islands

(User Submitted) – CHANNEL ISLANDS, Calif - The USCG rescued 3 people from a sail boat that was in danger of capsizing 2 miles north of Anacapa Island late Saturday afternoon. USCG Sector (LA/LB) received a report from the 32-foot sailing vessel "Outta Here" that the vessel was listing heavily and in danger of capsizing. A 47-foot motor life boat from USCG Station Channel Island and a Coast Guard MH-65 rescue helicopter from Coast Guard Air Station Los Angeles were dispatched to the scene. A Good Samaritan that was nearby also responded. Once on scene Coast Guard personnel determined that the seas and winds were too dangerous for the vessel. The 3 people aboard the vessel were transferred to the Coast Guard motor life boat and returned safety to Channel Islands Harbor. Read the full article.
