(User Submitted) – They sell hundreds of thousands of animals annually to companies like PETCO, PetSmart and Petland as well as many other small pet stores across the country. Based on the disturbing undercover video PETA made inside the Atanta facility owned by Sun Pet, abusing small animals for profit and amusement is quite common, including supervisors instructing the new employee on how to physically squeeze a small rodent with enough force to make the male genitals protrude when sexing them.

The graphic video shows hamsters put into a plastic bag and bashed against a table to kill them, and sick or injured animals shipped back from pet stores without food or water. PETA has turned over its findings to law enforcement officials. Read the full article at Digital Journal.

I always get my pets from a local animal rescue. They are rescued from shelters that kill. Over the past 20yrs I have adopted 2 dogs & 4 cats. All loving pets.

I was well aware Petland is involved with many of these pet suppliers, but I always thought Petsmart and Petco had higher standards then them. As much as I despise PETA, I do hope they can pressure the big 3 pet stores into raising their standards and avoiding these suppliers.

The recommended way to kill rodents to feed snakes is to either smash in their heads, build a CO2 chamber (if you'll be feeding for a few years), or...to bash them against a table. It's one of the most humane ways to kill a rodent.

I'm not defending these people. I'm just sayin'.
