Coast Guard assists in search for missing 23 year-old-man

(User Submitted) – TAMPA, FLa. - The Coast Guard is assisting in the search for a 23-year-old man in the vicinity of Apollo Beach, Tampa Bay, Friday. Watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector St. Petersburg received a call at approximately 5:35 p.m., Thursday, from a boater reporting a man had fallen into the water, from his 16-foot boat, and had not re-surfaced. An immediate launch was directed of a Coast Guard Station St. Petersburg 25-foot response boat crew, and an H60 Jayhawk helicopter from Air Station Clearwater to the Cocoa Lane region of Apollo Beach. The Coast Guard units arrived on scene at approximately 5:44 p.m. Also searching for the man, is an FWC response boatcrew, two Hillsborough County Sheriff marine units, a Hillsborough County dive unit, and a Hillsborough County Sheriff helicopter.
