Marion Jones Used Roids in 2000

(Newser) – Olympic Gold Medalist Marion Jones has admitted using steroids in preparation for the 2000 Sydney games. The track star will plead guilty on Friday to lying to federal agents regarding her drug use, the Washington Post reports. It is not clear if Jones could be stripped of the three gold and two bronze medals she won in Sydney.

Jones says that her former coach, Trevor Graham, gave her the steroid THG, known as "the clear", under the lie that it was the supplement flaxseed oil. Although concerned by Graham's request for secrecy, Jones did not become aware of the drug until shown a sample by the federal agents. She said she lied at the time to protect herself and Graham.
