Police arrested a Massachusetts man after discovering 123 parking meter heads stashed in his closets and under his bed. Parking officials had been seeking the culprit cutting the coin-filled tops off meters all over Cambridge for the past year, but he was caught by accident when police came to his home to serve an unrelated warrant.
With the meters costing $300 each, the vandalism adds up to $30,000 worth of damage. Police also found metal shavings and tools needed to saw the heads off the meters in the house. The man was charged with receiving stolen property and breaking into a depository. Bail was set at $5,000. No word on whether he plans to pay in quarters.
