(Newser) – Pakistan has arrested a man thought to have connections to the nation's Taliban group who says he helped Faisal Shahzad get bomb training there, reports the Washington Post. If his claims hold up, it's the most solid connection yet between the attempted Times Square bombing and the militant group. Authorities are working to confirm, with one caveat: Most of what they're going on comes from either Shahzad or the new suspect, and they could be spinning tall tales.

Still, "what they said has been corroborated by other evidence,'' an anonymous law enforcement source tells the Post. Adds an intelligence official: "What is definitely true is that a lot of this comes from the statements of people directly involved." The development comes as the feds arrested three people in raids in three states who may have helped fund the plot, knowingly or otherwise.
