US Coast Guard rescues man from aground vessel near Johns Pass

(User Submitted) – ST PETERSBURG, Fla. – The USCG rescued a man from a 34-foot speed boat after it ran aground on Eleanor Island, in Johns Pass, Fla., Saturday at 8:45 p.m. USCG watchstanders from Sector St. Petersburg received a call from a good Samaritan reporting that a speed boat was traveling at high speed and went aground approximately 500 yards from Johns Pass. Crewmembers from Coast Guard Station Sand Key, Station St. Petersburg and Coast Guard Cutter Marlin, homeported in Ft. Myers Beach, immediately were launched to assist in the rescue. Crewmembers from the Cutter Marlin recovered Morgan Domingue, 26, of St. Petersburg and safely transferred him to Don’s Bait and Tackle boat ramp where emergency services were waiting.
