Diamondbacks Take 2-0 Series Lead
Arizona Diamondbacks' Jose Valverde celebrates the final out against the Chicago Cubs in the ninth inning in Game 2 of a National League Division Series playoff baseball game Thursday, Oct. 4, 2007 at Chase Field in Phoenix. The Diamondbacks roughed up Ted Lilly early on the way to an 8-4 win and a 2-0 series lead that leaves the favored Cubs on the brink of elimination.  Chris Young hit a 3-run homer, Eric Byrnes had an RBI triple, and Stephen Drew drove in two, knocking a frustrated Lilly out in the sixth.

Pitching woes aren't the only thing plaguing the Cubs - their three biggest bats can't get on track: Alfonso Soriano, Derrek Lee and Aramis Ramirez are a combined 4 for 27. "Nobody predicted us to do anything, yet here we are going to Chicago with a great chance to close out the series," said Diamondbacks third baseman Mark Reynolds. (More MLB stories.)
