Tea Party Bard Sheds Secret Identity
Jonathan Kahn, aka Jon David, performs at a tea party event, in this screenshot from a Wall Street Journal video.   (Wall Street Journal)

Tea Partiers know him as Jon David, the guy with the guitar whose song “American Heart” has become an anthem for the movement. “I got American parts / Got American faith / In America's heart,” he croons at rallies around the country, semi-disguised by hat and sunglasses. The singer's been undercover and using a pseudonym, afraid to reveal his true identity lest he jeopardize his Hollywood career. Until now.

David took off the glasses for the Wall Street Journal, revealing his true identity: Jonathan Kahn, the screenwriter and director of, ahem, not a whole lot, based on his IMDB page. But he's still risking his career by coming out, various Hollywood conservatives insist. “I mean, he's a member of a huge, Democratic liberal organization called the Los Angeles entertainment business,” says one record producer he's worked with. “It's very wise he's going incognito.” (More Jonathan Kahn stories.)
