Ban Stands on Alabama Sex Toys, Finally

Posted Oct 7, 07 11:21 AM CDT in US Arts & Living

(Newser) – After 9 years of court challenges, an Alabama judge has green lighted enforcement of a state law banning the sale of sex toys—the Supreme Court declined to hear the case last week—making Wired’s Regina Lynn cry misogyny. The statute does not outlaw Viagra to help men achieve sexual pleasure, she observes, but a woman won't be able to (legally) get an assist.

The government has gone out of its way to assert "some ownership over women's sexual pleasure," she argues, and it puts lesbians in a serious bind. Above all, what irks her is the  implication that  “women are too fragile to be trusted” with “products designed to promote sexual pleasure." At least, she notes, there's the internet.
