(Newser) – Floyd Landis' blockbuster accusation that Lance Armstrong and their teammates were doping—and his admission that he was, too—was nothing more than an extortion attempt, lawyers for Armstrong's racing team said today. Armstrong "told Landis he had nothing to hide and that he was not going to submit to Landis' baseless threats to 'disclose' falsehoods," they said in a statement released to USA Today. "Lance never has and never will give anyone money, or anything else, to keep them from airing falsehoods."

There are NO professional sportsmen or women at the top of their sport who don't do drugs. None. Landis has now admitted it after years of strenuously denying it. Armstrong is hanging tough, but make no mistake, PLENTY has gone into those veins. Plenty. You don't win professional sporting events by just training harder any more. Those days are LONG GONE. The sooner Armstrong comes clean the better. Stop The Sham. Sport is television entertainment. For MONEY. It is NOT fair competition between individuals or teams. Hasn't been for decades.
