(Newser) – Venus and Serena Williams won their first-round doubles match at Roland Garros today, and all eyes were on Venus, who was wearing—an unadorned black T-back tennis dress. After 2 days of scrutiny thanks to the modified can-can get-up she wore for her first-round singles match, Williams went low-key as she and her sister recorded a 6-0, 6-1 victory, reports the LA Times.

There was actual sports news, too: 39-year-old Kimiko Date Krumm, 2 years removed from a 12-year retirement, bounced No. 9 seed Dinara Safina, last year's runner-up, reports the Times of London.
