(Newser) – About 40 Italian women have written an unusual open letter to Pope Benedict asking him to end the church's celibacy rule for priests. The odd hook? All the women claim to have had (or are having) intimate affairs with priests or monks, reports GlobalPost, which talks to some of the women willing to go public.

“Don't be shocked, your Holiness!" the letter reads. "In order to become effective witnesses to the need for love, they need to embody it and experience it fully, in the way their nature demands it."

As long as the church insists that it recruits priests from a population of "celibate" men and not from those who are truly spiritually drawn to the priesthood will attract mostly liars and or the perverts. Most well balanced men and women have and enjoy healthy sex lives. Most parishioners are married with families. Priests should come from the population they serve. The churches hunger for control and power has and will continue to corrupt it. If the church does not fix this problem the end will be drawing neigh. The pope and cardinals who continue to ignore this are blind and serve the church poorly.

I can see the Pope-sicle's disciplinary hearing when he calls in these 40 priests to rake them over the coals: "Listen up, lesser-holies! Dammitall didn't I tell you: No Screwing Anything over the age of Ten!? That's a holy decree! Once they're over ten they can read and write, dammit!"

Food for thought: 1 Timothy 4:1-3 written by the apostle Paul about how in later periods of time, some will be mislead by false teachings, and because of the hypocrisy of men who speak lies, will FORBID PEOPLE TO MARRY, and command people to abstain from foods which God has created for all men to enjoy... So, what does God think about all of this? Clearly written in the Bible, its hypocrisy...
