It's nice to finally have a president who's willing to take responsibility, writes Dana Milbank, but at his press conference Thursday, Obama "practiced every form of self-flagellation short of bringing out a cat-o'-nine-tails." OK, you take responsibility. "That's very clear, sir. But why not share some with the guys at BP who actually are responsible for the spill?" writes Milbank in the Washington Post.

"In a sense, it's refreshing to have a president who is candid about shortcomings. Yet Obama's news conference may have been the weakest hour of his presidency." He seemed "weirdly passive," even saying we don't need language like "keep the boot on the neck" of BP. "Yes we do!" says Milbank. "And we need tough deeds to match the tough talk."
