'Guide to Dating Indians' Is Just Plain Wrong

Maureen O'Connor is the child of a biracial marriage, and she would like Andrea Miller to “STFU.” Why? Because Miller, creator of YourTango, thought it would be a good idea to write a Guide to Dating Indians for the Huffington Post. The handy guide includes information from why you might want to date an Indian (they can communicate with cabbies in Hindi!) to how you might go about doing it (decide on a favorite Bollywood actor!).

To be fair, Miller’s article is full of apparently sincere adoration for Indians (her husband is from New Delhi): They “tend to be really good looking,” they’re “successful and professionally desirable,” and they “love to dance.” Still, “get a grip of yourself, lady,” O’Connor begs on Gawker. “You sound like a racial fetishist writing a primer for people seeking mail-order brides from far-flung nations.”
