The only reason football (yes! you kick the ball with your feet, hence the name - American football is just rugby with padding) is not popular in the US is that they haven't figured out a way to cram a commercial every freaking 15 seconds of play. You get 45 + 45 minutes of uninterrupted play, and that's just not how things are done in America.

By the way, England was perfecting the art of how to disappoint in the World Cup for the past 50 years, and I think this time they really got it.
